Bill serves as the President and CEO of CEBC, the Center for Ethical Business Cultures.

    Dr. Brendel’s Bio:
Dr. William Brendel received his Master’s Degree in Social-Organizational Psychology (2003) and Doctorate in Adult Learning & Leadership (2009) at Columbia University in New York. He has close to 20 years of experience as an organization development consultant, researcher, and author. As an Assistant Professor at the University of St Thomas, Dr. Brendel teaches graduate courses in Moral, Spiritual, and Ethical Dimensions of Organization Development, Leadership Development, Change Management, Group Dynamics, and Transformative Learning. He also serves as a Co-Director for the Project for Mindfulness and Contemplation, overseeing strategic initiatives for developing a mindful and compassionate university.

Dr. Brendel’s research utilizes mindfulness practice as a method for cultivating organizational citizenship, compassionate leadership, and caring organizational cultures. In partnership with Stanford University scientist Neema Moraveji, Dr. Brendel is investigating the impact of physical stress and mindfulness practice on ethical decision making in the context of adaptive challenges at LinkedIn Corporation. In partnership with STELAR (St Thomas E-Learning and Research), he is also currently developing virtual reality simulations to instruct leaders on making ethical decisions in stressful situations. In 2014 Dr. Brendel developed an organizational diagnostic tool called the Leadership Presence and Purpose Inventory. Psychometrically validated and used by over 300 employees, the LPPI indicates how a leader’s quality of mind (awareness) and habit of mind (purpose) influence their ability to inspire others to causes greater than themselves.
