Values-Based Leadership
in the Professions

 

Dear CEBC Members and Friends,

 

Please join us on Wednesday, March 12 for The Fredrikson and Byron Lecture in Honor of John Byron “Values-Based Leadership in the Professions” by Dr. James O’Toole.  James O’Toole is known internationally for his writing and speaking on values-based leadership. Included in his 15 books is Leading Change: The Argument for Values-Based Leadership, Leadership from A to Z, and Creating the Good Life.  His new book coauthored with Warren Bennis and Daniel Goleman, is Transparency: How Leaders Create a Culture of Candor, which will be published shortly.

 

Dr. O’Toole has served as the Executive Vice President of the Aspen Institute and, at the University of Southern California, as the University Associates’ Chair of Management and Executive Director of the Leadership Institute. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of the Booz Allen & Hamilton Strategic Leadership Center.

 

A two-person panel will respond to Dr. O’Toole’s remarks and, together with Dr. O’Toole, take questions from the audience. The panelists are Michael DeMane, the Chief Operating Officer of Medtronic, and Kim Nelson, Vice President of General Mills and President of the Snacks Division.

 

The event will be held on Wednesday, March 12 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Schulze Grand Atrium of the University of St. Thomas School of Law located between 11th and 12th and LaSalle Avenue and Harmon Place in downtown Minneapolis. Parking is available at nearby ramps for a nominal fee. The presentation, part of the Medtronic Business and Law Roundtable series of lectures, is being hosted by the Thomas Holloran Center for Ethical Leadership in the Professions and the Center for Ethical Business Cultures at the University of St. Thomas.
