Making A Difference - Rebuilding Trust™
The Center for
Ethical Business Cultures helps leaders create and sustain ethical business
cultures. Here are a few ways that CEBC is making a difference:
Promoting
Awareness
-
CEBC
provided national leadership,
participating in an Advisory Group to The United States Sentencing
Commission and at President George W. Bush’s Economic Forum on Corporate
Responsibility and speaking on the value of building ethical cultures
and its importance in restoring trust in the business community.
-
CEBC
spoke
to more than 18,000 people
— in
companies, trade groups, and national associations —
emphasizing the importance of building ethical business cultures. The
Center’s staff has published editorials and given interviews in regional and
national media outlets
reflecting on the need for rebuilding cultures of integrity.
-
CEBC
supports public programming to promote building ethical cultures,
examining the assets ethical cultures bring
through the
annual Minnesota Business Ethics Award™ and Educational Forum
and the
risks of failure
through
co-sponsorship in 2003, 2004 and 2005 of the White Collar Crime Symposium. The
2003 symposium was recognized by Twin Cities Business Monthly as the
best business program of the year.
-
With the
support of a grant from the McKnight Foundation, CEBC has developed the
Minnesota Work«Life
Champions
Awards™ program to
recognize
flexible and supportive workplaces.
Serving
Business
-
CEBC
measurement tools
provide
concrete, actionable data
on the
ethical climate of companies.
-
CEBC
leads
workshops and training
for
senior business leaders, middle managers and front-line workers focused on
ethical leadership development and on ethical business decision-making.
-
CEBC
works
with boards of directors, CEOs and executive management teams
to help
them examine their cultures and take steps to make improvements.
-
CEBC
facilitated CEO Business Ethics Forums
with senior Minnesota business leaders examining the causes of ethical
breakdowns and strategies to rebuild trust.
Educating the
Next Generation of Leaders
-
CEBC works
with its Academic Partner, the University of St Thomas,
teaching
in classes to help orient students to
the
importance of ethical business leadership
and collaborating with faculty
whose research focuses on building ethical business cultures.
-
CEBC’s
leads
management simulations
with MBA, undergraduate and high school students to explore ethical business
challenges.
-
CEBC
co-sponsors International Study Abroad Programs
to
immerse MBA students in the global challenges of corporate responsibility
and ethical behavior in international cultures.
-
In partnership
with Rotary Districts 5950 and 5960 and funded by an extraordinary
restitution grant from the United States District Court, CEBC
developed
a pilot program for ethics education in high schools.
Fostering
Research
-
With support
of a grant from Harry R. Halloran, Jr., CEBC published a CEBC Working
Paper, Corporate Social Responsibility: The Shape of a History,
1945-2004.
