Alexandre A. Ardichvili, Ph.D.
Associate Professor, University of Minnesota

Fellow, Center for Ethical Business Cultures

Dr. Ardichvili is Associate Professor at the Department of Work and Human Resource Education of the University of Minnesota, where he teaches graduate courses, directs doctoral dissertation work, and pursues an active research agenda.  At the Center for Ethical Business Cultures, Alexandre is involved in a long-term research project on dimensions of ethical organizational cultures and relationship between ethical cultures and financial performance of business organizations.  

Alexandre’s prior academic and industry work experience includes faculty positions at the University of St. Thomas and the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, a role as research center’s co-director at the University of Minnesota, management and executive positions in the energy industry, and teaching and research analyst positions at several research centers, colleges and universities in the US, Poland, and Russia. In addition, Alexandre has more than 20 years of experience as consultant in industry. He has conducted consulting and action research projects at large corporations, including, among others, ADM, the Carlson Companies, Caterpillar, Medtronic, and Honeywell, and a variety of small and medium-sized firms and non-profit organizations, both in the US and in Europe.           

Dr. Ardichvili is the author of an edited book and more than 50 peer-reviewed academic articles and book chapters dealing with issues of organizational culture and leadership, knowledge management, and entrepreneurship.  He has presented his work and organized workshops at numerous international conferences, held in the US, Europe, and Asia.    

His educational background includes Ph.D. and MBA from the University of Minnesota, Ph.D. form the Moscow State University, Russia, and B.A. in Economics from the University of Tbilisi in Georgia, former USSR. Dr. Ardichvili is married and lives in St. Paul, Minnesota. He and his wife have two children.
